Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter to thank rapper Eminem after a four-minute freestyle rap aired during the BET awards which supported Kaepernick’s protest.

Rapper Eminem has never stayed away from controversy and on Tuesday night he used his platform to unload a four-minute freestyle rap partially in support of NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem (among other things).

The rap, which is being called “The Storm,” aired during Tuesday night’s BET Awards and accuses President Donald Trump of being a racist, distracting the American people and spending taxpayers dollars on vacations and golf trips.

“This is his form of distraction, plus he gets an enormous reaction when he attacks the NFL” Eminem said (h/t CBS News). “So we focus on that instead of talking Puerto Rico or gun reform for Nevada or these horrible tragedies, and he’s bored and would rather cause a Twitter storm with the Packers.”

Colin Kaepernick, who was the first NFL player to kneel, took to Twitter shortly after thanking the rapper for the statement and shared a shortened clip of the performance.

Eminem also referenced Trump’s comments about Senator John McCain who was a Prisoner of War. Trump said he didn’t recognize McCain as a hero because he had been captured.

“Now if you’re a black athlete, you’re a spoiled little brat for trying to use your platform and your stature to give those a voice to those to who don’t have one,” Eminem said. “He says you’re spitting in the face of the vets who fought for us … Unless you’re a POW, whose tortured and battered, to him you’re zeroes because he don’t like his war heroes captured.”

The controversy continues in the NFL this football season as teams have threatened to force players to stand and Vice President Mike Pence left an Indianapolis Colts game early after players from the visiting team knelt.
