Tennessee has agreed to a one-year deal with Eric Decker

NFL Free Agency, Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans continue to shore up their wide receiving corps, now signing Eric Decker to a one-year deal, after he was released by the Jets.

The Tennessee Titans keep on adding weapons for their rising star quarterback, Marcus Mariota. The Titans added receivers, Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor, in the NFL Draft. Now, the Titans have gone to the free-agent market to sign another one.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Eric Decker will sign a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans.

It was reported earlier in the week that the former Jets’ wide receiver was in Tennessee making his visit with the team. He spent 25 minutes with head coach Mike Mularkey and also underwent a team physical.

This will become a huge addition for the Titans, who will join Corey Davis and Rishard Matthews as the top receivers on the team. Tennessee finished 9-7 last season and are looking to head to the playoffs behind Mariota. Adding weapons for him was a priority during the offseason and GM Jon Robinson has delivered.

Decker, 30, will join his third team in his seven-year NFL career. He’s been with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, where he’s total 385 receptions and over 5,200 yards for his career. This past season with the Jets, Decker only appeared in three games and had a down year due to injuries.

The new Titans’ receiver underwent hip surgery back in October and also had a shoulder injury. He’s expected to be ready for Tennessee when the season rolls around. The expectations will be huge for Tennessee now, as Mariota can lean on Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray in the running game and now has go-to wide receivers in the passing game.

It’s good for Eric Decker, who was released by the tanking Jets and now has found his way to a playoff contender in Tennessee.
