With just a couple of months remaining until the 2017 NFL season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is already talking division title.
Last year at this time, Dak Prescott was prepping to spend his rookie NFL season backing up Tony Romo for the Dallas Cowboys. However, after a breakout season a year ago, Prescott is the unquestioned leader of the Cowboys, and is guaranteeing they will win the NFC East again in 2017. Prescott was asked on the red carpet at the ESPYS on Wednesday about his prediction for this season, to which he replied, “We’re the Cowboys. We’re gonna win the NFC East.”
The Honey Badger is one of the better defensive players in the NFL, and he certainly knows it. Tyrann Mathieu told the Sporting News that he is the best player in the NFL when he is healthy, which he has to do a better job of staying on the field. The Arizona Cardinals failed to make the playoffs last season, just a year after going to the NFC Championship Game, as they just could not win the close ones all season long.
The Minnesota Vikings took a chance on Michael Floyd this offseason, bringing the local wide receiver to the team, and trusting that he will turn his life around. However, Floyd was sentenced to a day in jail this past June after apparently drinking some tea that triggered a positive alcohol test. Head coach Mike Zimmer told Floyd that if he is lying about the tea, he will cut him, which could mean the end of what could have been a very productive NFL career.
Kurt Warner beat all the odds during his time in the NFL, going from a grocery store bag boy, to a Super Bowl champion. While he won the Super Bowl with the Rams, he could have been a Cleveland Brown, as he was eligible for the 1999 expansion draft. However, the Browns selected Scott Milanovich, who did not have close to the career Warner did. Warner, speaking on a conference call for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, said it “would have been fun to win a Super Bowl with the Browns,” stating that he feels he would have been successful anywhere.
Finally, some good news out of the Teddy Bridgewater camp. The Minnesota Viking quarterback posted pictures to his private Instagram account of him throwing passes without a new brace, which is a step in the right direction. Bridgewater blew out his knee during the preseason last year, an injury so bad that some believed he would never play again. The pictures are a great sign that those people were wrong, but the question still remains as to whether he will play in 2017.
