Colin Kaepernick is good enough to be in the NFL

Johnny Manziel, who was last seen with the Cleveland Browns, chimes in on the Colin Kaepernick situation, adding that Kaepernick should be in the NFL.

One of the most controversial topics in all of sports is the situation with Colin Kaepernick remaining unsigned a few weeks into training camp.

Many speculated that injuries to QB Joe Flacco and Ryan Tannehill opened the door for Kaepernick’s return to the NFL, but those teams chose to go in different routes. The Baltimore Ravens signed an Arena League quarterback, while the Dolphins chose to reunite QB Jay Cutler with head coach Adam Gase.

Many of Kaepernick’s proponents are arguing for him to get a shot in the NFL and now it looks like his list of supporters might have an interesting name. Johnny Manziel, last seen playing with the Cleveland Browns, is making headlines now, claiming that the ex-49ers’ quarterback is good enough to be on an NFL roster.

Speaking to Clay Travis, Manziel had this to say on Kaepernick:

Even if he’s not gonna start, he’s good enough to be on a roster for sure. I think once all the other stuff quiets down a little bit, he’ll be okay. That’s a guy that if we go back five years, the Baltimore Ravens are playing the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl and the next year they’re playing the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game. So that’s a guy who got a team to that point multiple times, who may have had down years the past couple of years but at the same time has a track record of proving he can go out and play. I don’t think his career is done.

Surprising to hear that from Manziel, who’s also trying to find his way back into the NFL. Both free agent quarterbacks are dealing with separate issues, but find themselves without a home.

Let’s see if either can land themselves on a roster before the season begins.
