The Oakland Raiders are one of the best teams in the NFL, and on Wednesday, they got their best offensive lineman back.
If the Oakland Raiders are going to make a serious run during the 2017 NFL season, they are going to need their star left tackle. Donald Penn had been sitting out this preseason, but he ended his 26-day holdout on Wednesday. Penn was back practicing with his teammates, and it is certainly a welcome sight, considering he allowed only one (albeit a big one) sack last season.
The Blake Bortles Era in Jacksonville may be over, as the veteran starter will be shown the bench during the Jaguars’ Week 3 preseason tilt. Chad Henne will get the start for the Jags against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night in a move that seems to be a long time coming. Bortles has never truly reached his potential, and with the Jaguars making moves again this offseason to bolster their roster, they may have run out of patience.
Staying with the quarterbacks, could Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson really be going with a rookie? The Browns drafted DeShone Kizer in the second round of this past April’s draft, and he has looked way better than the other quarterbacks this summer. For his efforts, Kizer will get the start in the Browns’ Week 3 preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and could earn the starting job with another solid performance.
It may be Le’Veon Bell Time soon, as the star running back looks to be headed toward ending his holdout. Arguably the best back in all of football, Bell tweeted out that he will be returning on Sept. 1, which gives a little over a week to prepare for the Steelers’ Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Bell and the Steelers could not agree on a long-term deal this offseason, and it is likely he will be playing under the franchise tag in 2017.
Finally, it looks like Odell Beckham Jr.’s ankle injury may be worse than originally thought. The star wideout was injured on Monday night against the Cleveland Browns, with the low hit on him looking like it did some knee damage. While it was only an ankle injury, the word is he may be out a couple weeks, with the injury possibly spilling into the New York Giants’ Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
