It’s Week 3 of the NFL season where the games and standings finally start to matter. Here are the best highlights we saw this weekend.
Wow, what a weekend of football. There’s still two more games left to play and we’ve already seen the best week of the NFL season so far. In one filled with controversy and protests, there were some great highlights to watch.
Here are the 10 best highlights from Week 3.
10. Marcedes Lewis gets the hat trick
Not one, not two, but three touchdowns today for old man Marcedes Lewis. The 33-year old tight end came into 2017 with just three total touchdowns in his last three seasons, but that changed this morning. Playing in their home away from home, Lewis connected with Blake Bortles for three separate touchdowns. It was part of a 44-7 rout over the Baltimore Ravens.
It was an impressive performance from Lewis, who did this against a defense that many considered to be a top 10 unit in the league. He made the Ravens defense look silly and had their number all afternoon. The Jaguars need to highly consider making a permanent move to London. They don’t have much success in the states, but play some of their best football across the pond.
9. Wentz shows off the agility
Carson Wentz didn’t have a huge day through the air, but he did have some highlights worth watching. From what we’ve seen, it looks like his ability to get out of the pocket and run is extremely underrated. Early in the second quarter, Wentz was flushed out of the pocket and put two Giants defenders on skates as he ran for the first down.
Wentz isn’t the first quarterback that comes to my mind when it comes to agility, but I may have to start rethinking things. This is the second week in a row where we’ve seen him make this kind of move on the run. Against the some of best athletes the sport has offer, that’s extremely impressive. Wentz did just enough today as the Eagles were able to grab a win thanks to a Jake Elliott walk-off 61-yard field goal.
