A report has surfaced that Bruce Arians plans to make this his last year with the Cardinals but he was quick to shoot it down, along with his son
With their humiliating 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals dropped to 3-4 on the year, and with quarterback Carson Palmer set to miss an extended period of time with a broken arm, things are not looking promising the rest of the way. This, of course, has led to some speculation that this could be the last season with Bruce Arians has the head coach of the franchise.
Rumors of Arians riding off into the sunset after the 2017 campaign were further fueled on Tuesday when a report surfaced from ABC 15 in Arizona. The report claims that a source close to Arians told them that he has no plans on returning as head coach of the Cardinals for the 2018 season.
Generally, when a report like this arises, you have to wait a little bit for a response from the subject of the rumors. Well, that was hardly the case on Tuesday night. And not only was Arians quick to comment on the report but his son, Jake, also stepped in.
Actually, first, it was the younger Arians to shot down the story.
Then, not long after, Arians himself proclaimed the story to be false.
Despite the Arians family quick to respond, there is a fairly good chance this will be the end of the Arians era in Arizona. It’s pretty obvious that the window for this team to compete for a Super Bowl has pretty much closed, and a complete overhaul might be needed sooner rather than later.
For now, Arians will surely deny any reports such as this, seeing as the team is only seven games into their season and has a bit to go yet. But, this tune may change come later in the year, especially if things get worse for this team.
