Deshaun Watson tears ACL in practice

One of the best stories of the 2017 NFL season will end early, as Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson blew out his knee Thursday.

A first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Deshaun Watson has taken the league by storm since being subbed in for Tom Savage in the second half in Week 1. An explosive signal-caller who was fresh off a national title win with Clemson, Watson was dominating in his first taste of the NFL. Those good feelings ended on Thursday, when he blew out his knee in a non-contact injury at practice, ending his rookie season.

Staying with AFC South quarterbacks who are done for the season, the Indianapolis Colts shut down Andrew Luck on Thursday. Many expected the move, but the team made it official, placing their star signal-caller on injured reserve. Luck had offseason shoulder surgery on his throwing arm and has never gotten back to the point where he could seriously play in a regular season game. The team will roll with Jacoby Brissett the rest of the way.

Ezekiel Elliott will not play this weekend, as his six-game suspension is back on. Instead, the Dallas Cowboys will start Alfred Morris at running back, and they are pretty confident with a tandem of him and Darren McFadden. The Cowboys play against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, so moving the ball against their defense is going to be a tall order, especially since they looked like they righted the ship last week against Denver.

The Seattle Seahawks are once again a challenger in the NFC, and this past week, they made a move to bolster their offensive line. The left tackle position has been a weakness, so they traded with the Houston Texans for Duane Brown. All reports are that Brown has looked incredible in practice this week, and adding a player of his caliber is only going to improve a roster that is built to win now.

Finally, it looks like the Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for a Super Bowl run. The Eagles have never won the big game, and after getting out to a 7-1 start, they decided to add another running back to the fold. Philadelphia traded for Miami running back Jay Ajayi earlier this week, and teaming with LeGarrette Blount, this Eagles offense is going to be something special moving forward.
