The six-game suspension for Ezekiel Elliott is back on, as his injunction was denied on Thursday, and he will now sit out until Week 16.
The NFL will be without Ezekiel Elliott for the next six games, as the star running back from the Dallas Cowboys had his injunction denied on Thursday. This has been a seesaw battle all season long between Elliott and the NFL, and it finally came to an end this week. Serving a six-game suspension, Elliott will not be eligible to return until Week 16, when his Cowboys take on the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 24.
Martellus Bennett was released by the Green Bay Packers earlier this week for failing to disclose a medical condition, but it did not take him long to find a new home. The tight end rejoined the New England Patriots, with whom he won a Super Bowl with last season. Bennett is 30-years old, but will now head to the Pats to join a team in first place, and a tight end group headlined by Rob Gronkowski.
The Indianapolis Colts also did some cutting of their own on Thursday, as they released cornerback Vontae Davis. Davis had been playing with an injured groin, and he will immediately have surgery on it. If he comes back healthy, he should have plenty of suitors next season, as you can never have too many NFL caliber cornerbacks on your roster. The lost season in Indy continues.
One of the biggest stories of Week 9 of the NFL season was the scuffle between A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Jalen Ramsey of the Jacksonville Jaguars. For his role in the fight, Green was fined $42k by the NFL, and he will apparently not fight it. It has been a terrible season for the Bengals, who have a ton of talent on their roster, but just cannot put wins together consistently.
Finally, the Thursday Night Football matchup brought more questions as to why teams continue to play on Thursday night. The football was downright bad in the Seattle Seahawks 22-16 victory against the Arizona Cardinals, and that might be due to the fact there is not enough rest leading into these midweek game. While they won the game, the Seahawks lost one of their biggest pieces of the puzzle on Thursday night, as Richard Sherman ruptured his Achilles and is out for the season.
