Sam Darnold replaces Eli Manning in New York

NFL Mock Draft

The New York Giants get their new franchise quarterback next April, as Sam Darnold takes over for Eli Manning as the long-term solution in the NFL Draft.

With 13 weeks of the 2017 NFL season in the books, the top of the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft looks nothing like we would have expected coming into the season. Sure, we all expected the Cleveland Browns to be picking first overall, but the New York Giants and Denver Broncos in the top-4 is quite the shock. It is clear some teams are looking for their next franchise quarterback, and with this draft having a ton of talent at that position, look for the signal-callers to come flying off the board next April.

Here is a look at our latest 2018 NFL Mock Draft.

Josh Rosen

Quarterback, UCLA

The Cleveland Browns suffered another loss on Sunday, as they went into Los Angeles and were beaten by the Chargers. With the loss, the Browns moved to 0-12 on the season, with a real possibility that they could finish the season without a win. The team did get Josh Gordon back, as he played in his first game since 2014, but he did not do enough to help his team get into the win column for the first time this season.

Gordon did finish the game with over 80 yards on four catches, showing flashes of the player he was when he led the NFL in receiving yards back in 2013. If he can keep his life in order, the Browns will have one of the best wide receivers in the league, but that is a big if. Next April, the Browns should look to bring in a player who can get him the ball, and UCLA’s Josh Rosen would be a perfect selection at No. 1 overall.

Rosen has the arm to make all the throws at the next level, and the Browns need to make sure they actually pick a can’t-miss quarterback this time. They have passed on guys like Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, and Deshaun Watson in the last two drafts, so their track record is pretty terrible. Look for them to take Rosen No. 1 overall, and let’s all hope for Browns fans that he actually lives up to his potential.
