With Carson Wentz likely done for the year, here are five potential fantasy football waiver wire replacements.
The Philadelphia Eagles won on Sunday, and Carson Wentz had another nice performance (291 yards and four touchdowns. But he also left the game late in the third quarter with a left knee injury, and initial fears he suffered a torn ACL were confirmed by Eagles head coach Doug Pederson on Monday.
Wentz entered Week 14 as the second-highest scoring fantasy quarterback this year (ESPN scoring), so now his fantasy owners that are still alive in the playoffs will have to make hay without him.
Wentz has had a great season, so perfectly replacing him on a fantasy roster is not an easy or realistic proposition. But it will be mandatory to fill that roster spot with a healthy player. So here are five options to replace Wentz for the most important weeks on the fantasy schedule.
5. Nick Foles
Foles saw his first substantive action this season in place of Wentz against the Rams on Sunday, going 6-for-10 for 42 yards.
Back in 2013, in his first stint with the Eagles, Foles had 27 touchdown passes and just two interceptions in 13 games (10 starts). That touchdown total was inflated by a seven touchdown game, but Foles captured something and finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback.
The Eagles still have a good offensive line, and a deep group of skill position talent across the board. Foles will benefit from that structure, with three pretty favorable matchups to end the season (New York Giants-Week 15, Oakland Raiders-Week 16, Dallas Cowboys-Week 17).
