Zay Jones arrested after bizarre incident involving fight, nudity, vandalism

Buffalo Bills

The Bills’ second-year wideout is going to have to explain to his team exactly what went down in a strange series of events that led to his arrest this week.

When you’re the Buffalo Bills, the last thing you want to see in the offseason with a young player like wide receiver Zay Jones is his name connected to words like “arrested,” “fight,” “nudity” or “vandalism.” Unfortunately, reports circulating from Los Angeles have Jones connected with all of them.

TMZ Sports broke the news on a strange incident that centered on Jones but also involved his brother, Cayleb Jones, who plays for the Minnesota Vikings. Both video and pictures (which won’t be posted here but you can see by hitting the TMZ link) feature a naked Jones arguing with his brother.

Later, he reportedly smashed his foot through a window and possibly even tried to squeeze through the hole he created before he was handcuffs. The charge Jones faces is said to be felony vandalism.

That’s not even the strangest part of this story.

You can hear Zay yelling, “I’m going to fight for Jesus” … and according to witnesses, Cayleb was trying to stop him from jumping out a 30th floor window.

The Bills are aware of the situation but still trying to gather facts at this point, according to a statement the team released to the local media in Buffalo.

The 22-year-old Jones was drafted in the second round by the Bills last season after a stellar college career for East Carolina. He started 10 games during his rookie year in Buffalo, and while he posted modest stats (27 receptions for 316 yards and two TDs), many pundits expected he could take a bigger step forward as pat of a new look offense in 2018.

That could still happen, but Jones will have to own up to whatever caused this incident and accept whatever punishment comes his way as a result. Expect to hear plenty more about him in the days to come.
