Dolphins expected to be without DeVante Parker for opener

Miami Dolphins, NFL

Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker sustained a broken middle finger a few weeks ago and, after hoping to be ready for the opener, that now appears unlikely.

The Miami Dolphins will begin their 2018 regular season this Sunday, but they may be without one of their playmakers. Wide receiver DeVante Parker suffered a broken middle finger around the middle of August.

The hope was that he would still be ready for the opener against the Tennessee Titans:

Teams are usually optimistic when it comes to injuries however, and unfortunately this seems like one of those scenarios.

Parker now seems likely to miss the regular season opener against the Tennessee Titans, and his status for Miami’s week 2 matchup against their division rival the New York Jets, also seems in jeopardy. On the bright side, Parker has reportedly been feeling “substantially” better of late.

Coming off a down season in which Parker had 57 catches for 670 yards and a touchdown last season, this surely isn’t the way he and the Dolphins envisioned him beginning this upcoming season.

Miami traded away their leading receiver last season in Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns , but they signed a couple of veteran wide receivers in Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson to help fill the void.

The Dolphins hope to have Parker back on the field sooner rather than later, in the hopes that he can have the type of season that they envisioned when they drafted him in the first round back in 2015.
