A pair of 9-7 teams from a season ago clash as the Baltimore Ravens host the Buffalo Bills. Here’s a look at what to expect in this Week 1 showdown.
A season ago, the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens headed into Week 17 in position to grab a playoff berth. All John Harbaugh’s team had to do was win at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. Meanwhile, the Bills needed a victory at Miami and some help.
As it turned out, the latter came to fruition. Sean McDermott’s squad got the job done against the Dolphins while Baltimore stubbed its toes against the Bengals. The Bills were postseason bound for the first time since 1999 while the Ravens missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons. Now, for the second time in three years, these clubs will open the season at Baltimore.
It has been another offseason of massive movement in Orchard Park. Second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman will get the start for McDermott’s club. And can he and the Bills’ offense hang onto the ball against a team that led the NFL with 34 takeaways a season ago?

The last time these teams squares off was Week 1 at Baltimore and the Ravens came away with a 13-7 victory. It would not be surprising to see something similar when it comes to this contest given Harbaugh’s defense and the current state of Buffalo’s offensive line. Hence, that current number of 40.5 looks pretty inviting when it comes to the under.
