Mike Trout’s big deal, Kyler and the Cards keep flirting, Belichick vs. Saban

Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels, March Madness, NCAA Football, New England Patriots

The Angels lock up Mike Trout for life, the Cardinals continue to flirt with Kyler Murray, Bill Belichick and Nick Saban job swap and more in today’s Schmidt List.

Angels reel in a big one

Mike Trout and the Angels are nearing an agreement on a record-shattering 12-year deal worth $430 million. This deal is great for fans because it spares us from thousands of worthless trade rumors and hundreds of the same tired columns about whether they should trade him. And Bryce Harper strikes out in his attempt to recruit the best player in baseball to the Phillies.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire

Kyler Murray met with the Cardinals on Tuesday further suggesting the reigning Heisman winner will be the top pick in the NFL Draft. However, after seeing what Trout signed for, it’s not too late for Murray to run back to the A’s. Josh Rosen is secretly hoping the A’s get their top pick back.

GOAT vs. GOAT

Bill Belichick was in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday to witness Alabama’s pro day where he got to catch up with his old Browns defensive coordinator, Nick Saban. Seeing Belichick in Alabama gear got me thinking how fun it would be to see them trade jobs for a year. Imagine Belichick at Alabama and Saban with the Patriots. If you had to pick one to get a title, who would it be? Your answer is the answer to who the greatest football (on any level) coach is.

College football free agency frenzy

Former Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell is eligible to play this year at Miami after the NCAA granted him a hardship waiver. The hardship being Justin Fields transferred to Ohio State and took his job.

March Madness fun fact

Did you know UConn is the only school to win the NCAA Tournament in both the men’s and women’s game? It was so nice, the Huskies did it twice, first in 2004 and again in 2014.

On this day

In 1930, Colonel Harland Sanders founded Kentucky Fried Chicken. In that time, they have sold enough gravy to fill the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. I just made that up, but it feels like it could be true.
